Bring the little ones to this event to get their wiggles out while the adults get to know other stay at home parents.

It’s easy to suggest this kind of thing if you are like me (and probably the author), born healthy and with the luck of a body reluctant to gain fat. A lot of my friends especially women are not as lucky. With inherited conditions making some things far more likely, including weight gain. (my wife and I eat the same and exercise the same, she’s fat, I’m not) I think its better to be grateful for my good fortune than punish the less fortunate.Sure smokers damage themselves, and sports increase injury rates, alcohol does all kinds of damage and accidents, weight gain increases risks of other problems etc etc.All these injuries and illnesses already come with their own disadvantages. No one likes getting hurt or sick or the constant abuse attracted by obesity. It sucks. Also people are terrible at judging risk correctly, that just how our brains work. Adding financial cost to illness is unlikely to change much in terms of behavior. Cigarette taxes work to discourage smoking, taxing cancer treatment for smokers would not. Its a mean policy where those less fortunate in health get financial pain added to their existing problems.

When their final hours together ended and it was time to take him off the respirator, doctors wheeled Logan into surgery. The hardest part, says Mariko: "We walked down the hallway. My mom held Logan’s hand, and my dad and I held hands behind. I was just staring at Logan. These people stopped, and it was all Humboldt families, and they watched us walk by. Knowing that would be the last time I saw him … hearing him breathing … seeing his heartbeat."

The latest venture from sushi chef Eric Lee (ex–Blue Ocean, Ototo), Umami opened in the new North City development near CSU San Marcos last year, offering specialty sushi rolls, poke bowls, ramen, bento boxes, bao buns, and more. Expect the sushi rolls to be large, but the prices relatively low. Look for unique rolls like the baked crawfish, spicy lemon, and fried tofu, or try a “sushi muffin” composed of two rice balls stuffed with seaweed, imitation crab, and masago, and topped with salmon, black tobiko (fish roe), and edible flowers.251 North City Drive, San Marcos

Nathan Evans Fox is an Americana/folk musician from Glen Alpine, North Carolina, where he grew up surrounded by country, folk, gospel, and Americana. These roots form the rich undercurrent of his music, which combines bluegrass riffs, folk stories, and religious imagery with unorthodox layers of sound and a heavy dose of wit. Fox has been writing music for ten years, experimenting with a variety of genres and learning new instruments along the way. He has collaborated with other artists as a fiddle player, guitarist, and vocalist. His lyrics confront political, religious, and personal inconsistencies (even his own), but also offer a meditation on what it means to live with and love another. Fox wrote, performed, and produced his first full-length album Home, which was released in January 2017. He lives in Houston with his best friend/wife Elizabeth and their dog Maisie. **************************************************************** Lindsay Foote writes honest, soul-bearing music coupled with a voice that will melt even the hardest heart. ? Inspired by the alternative folk music scene, Lindsay has been writing songs for as long as she can remember. Originally from Winchester, Massachusetts, she moved to Canada in 2009 to study voice at the University of Toronto. in 2009, she released an EP, A Better View, followed by a full solo album, From the Blue, in 2015. Her newest release, Going Gone EP, features her five-piece folk band— Lindsay Foote & Company. Blurring the lines between folk, roots, and pop, Going Gone boasts lush acoustic arrangements paired with Lindsay’s signature candid writing style. The songs explore love, loss, and facing the truth even in the toughest moments. Going Gone has already garnered attention on the Folk circuit. "Silence" was featured on CBC Metro Morning. RAW RAMP Magazine calls these songs "the most celestial & moving folk songs you can imagine" and For the Rabbits calls it "the sound of an artist expanding their musical horizons and fulfilling a very rich promise." "Her voice pierces the interior chambers of one’s consciousness and leaves an indelible mark there. The one quality that keeps me connected to any music is its Truth and Lindsay’s voice leaves no doubts as to where it comes from and where it is aiming. It is music of the heart and burns on contact" -Christos Hatzis, Juno Award-Winning Composer.
